School Council Meet & Greet Evening
Thursday, September 17 • 6:00 PM in the Assikinack Library
Come join us for a warm and welcoming evening with our School Council! This is a great chance to meet fellow parents/guardians, connect with staff, and learn how you can be part of our vibrant school community. We always welcome new members to our School Council, new voices, new ideas, new energy!
💛 What School Council Does at Assikinack
School Council plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between home and school, helping build a collaborative environment where parents and guardians can contribute to our school’s success. Together, we support school initiatives, share ideas, strengthen communication, and help make Assikinack the best it can be.
School Councils advocate for the needs and well being of students, addressing critical issues, enhancing educational outcomes, and improving student achievement.
📅 Monthly Meetings
We meet at least 4 times a year - maybe a few more! - on the first Monday at 6:00 PM in the school library. (there are usually cookies! 🍪) Generally, we meet in October, November, January, February, April, but this depends on things happening in the school.

🌟Election Information
Within 30 calendar days of the start of the year, we hold elections for positions on the school council. The elected positions are for Chair, Co-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer. Our School Council Elections will be held on Monday October 5, 2026, our first meeting of the year. All parents/guardians of students that attend Assikinack can attend this meeting and vote. We encourage you to come out and join our School Council.
Nomination forms will be available at this Meet and Greet and will also be sent out via email to the community on September 16.
“Parent/Guardian Candidate Nomination Forms shall be filed by all candidates for elected positions on the school council. Submission Deadline for the nomination forms will be October 1, 2026.”
