Hello Blackbird Families!

Thank you for a wonderful week!

It was great to see so many families at our Meet the Educator Event on Wednesday! If you were unable to attend and need to sign up for Student Led Conferences in November, please reach out to your child's educator to find a time to do conferences after report cards.

Just wanted to share a little information for the week coming up!

School Council Update:

We had our first Assikinack School Council meeting on Monday Sept. 29. We had a terrific turnout and great conversations were had by all! We welcome new members to come out to our meetings and get involved! It is a fun way to work together for our school community and get to know one another. We held our annual council elections for appointed positions for the position of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary! We welcome Trina Maus as our new Council Chair, Tonya Guthrie as our Treasurer, and Rebecca Coyle as our Secretary! We would like to also take the opportunity to thank Lesley Prestwich, our former council chair for the amazing work she has done, and the energy and passion she has dedicated to our school...and she continues to do so! Stay tuned for our next adventures! We also have some great parents supporting Fundraising, Denise Haelzle, Eat Well to Excel, Tonya Guthrie, and working to coordinate our volunteers, Sarah McKinnon! And thank you to many others that support us every day, with coaching, literacy, trips, and much much more!

Lunchbox:

Lunchbox will be slowly starting this week with Pizza and Subway! and remember Popcorn on Fridays!

Kidney Clothes Fundraiser:

Our Kidney Clothes Fundraiser is underway! Clean out those closets and drop your stuff off at school this week!

The Kidney Clothes Pick Up Date at the school is Friday October 10!

Kiss N'Ride:

Just a reminder that cars are asked not to drive through the parking lot and pass buses in the parking lot. Cars will need to remain in the Kiss N Ride loop until buses have departed. Thank you for your patience! this is for student safety!  Also, please follow the loop safely and with caution as many students are walking through to meet family. We will be working with students to be safe as well.

Yard

Another THANK YOU!  to all families respecting the request to wait on the edges of the yard or at the gate during drop off in the morning in the Kindergarten/Primary Yard! Staying up on the "balcony" or "Parent Gathering Area", and remaining at the gate, is keeping our yard safe, and supporting staff and students to have a safe, smooth transition on the yard and into the building.

Have a great weekend everyone! Enjoy this sunny, fall weather!
