Hallowe’en at Assikinack
Students may choose to wear costumes or dress in Orange and Black for Halloween this year! Please remember that if your child/children chooses to wear a costume to school, that there are no weapons or masks allowed at school. We also encourage that extra “accessories” (wands, stuffies, extras) stay at home so that costumes can be preserved for the fun, spooky night and nothing gets lost or broken.
Also, when choosing costumes, this can be a really fun time, however please have discussions about being aware of cultural appropriation, and that dressing like a culture, religion, stereotype, and being offensive to the identities of others, are not acceptable costumes. “Culture is Not A Costume”.
Visitors/Volunteers in the School
WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS! It makes our school a better place to be for sure! Volunteers and visitors in the school are reminded to ensure they have checked in and signed in at the office when they are in the building. Also, please remember to sign out when leaving. We are also asking that whenever possible, volunteers in the building, unless working in a specific classroom, planned with a specific staff member, stay in the front of the building, out of instructional areas and hallways during instructional time. If you are interested in volunteering, our volunteer coordinator is Sarah McKinnon, or please reach out to the office and we can help get you started!

Our next School Council meeting is November 3 at 6:00 in the library at the school! We love new members! Come and be a part of a great team!
